Toby and Kate quarreled from the moment they arrived. The most contentious topic was what they fed their children.
Toby was confronted by Kate during dinner about whether he worried about Jack becoming overweight. Toby retorted that Kate acted as if he was not allowed to express his opinion on the children because he had moved away for work. Toby also accused Kate that he was too sensitive about what he said. He explained to her that he wasn't an absentee father, and that he worried about Jack overfeeding because of Kate and his weight problems.
Toby and Kate later admitted that they had been having the exact same argument - they were both disappointed that he wasn't around more often. Kate said that she didn’t want her kids to feel ashamed about what they ate and that Toby wasn’t aware of how much she thought.
In another Thanksgiving drama, Rebecca (Mandy Moore), shared her last wishes with Kate (Justin Hartley), Randall (Sterling K. Brown). Miguel ( Jon Huertas was to be her point person for medical decisions, if she couldn't make them for herself. In case Miguel died, she chose Kate to be her backup. Later, Rebecca explained to Rebecca that Kate was her best friend and always stood by her side.
Kevin also showed the family the site of construction for the Pearson compound. It was to have wings for each Big Three brood, as well as a main suite for Rebecca, and a guesthouse for her caretakers. Randall struggled to keep the memories of Rebecca alive while she was in good health. Rebecca told her children that she would not allow her illness to stop them from living life to the fullest.
