Dylan O'Brien recalls the 'Difficult Choice' not to return for the 'Teen Wolf' movie, and explains why he didn't sign on

The actor, who is now 30, played Stiles Stilinski from 2011 to 2017. He was drawn to Paramount+ because of his love for the character and the original series.

Dylan O'Brien recalls the 'Difficult Choice' not to return for the 'Teen Wolf' movie, and explains why he didn't sign on

"The show could not be more important to me. It was my first ever thing, and I am so grateful to all the people involved," O'Brien said to Variety Wednesday, March 9. It was something I was trying make work of, but it all happened very quickly."

The Love and Monsters actor stated that "a lot" was involved in his decision to not pursue the project. He said, "We didn’t know it was happening. They kind of threw it at our faces a little bit. Which is fine because all of us love the show." "We were trying it out."

O'Brien said that he decided to not reprise his Teen Wolf character because of the ending of the series.

He said, "I decided it was left at a really great place for me and that I still want it there," he added.

The MazeRunner star stated that he wishes the movie crew "well" and added, "I'm going watch it the first time it comes out. It will be f-king awesome, but I won't be there.

In September 2021, news broke that the series creator Jeff Davis was planning a movie revival. Paramount+ announced the initial cast last month and confirmed the project.

The original cast members Tyler Posey and Holland Roden, Shelley Hennig and Shelley Haynes, Colton Haynes, Colton Haynes, Shelley Hennig and Orny Adams are returning.

After the finale of season 3, Scott McCall's character in the film, Posey, will be returning to the set. He saved Beacon Hills by enlisting the help of his friends. The crew is now out of high school but there's still plenty of evil they can fight in this movie.
"A full moon rises over Beacon Hills and with it, a terrifying evil has appeared. In a February press release, the network stated that the wolves are yelling again and calling for the return Banshees. Hellhounds. Kitsunes. And all other shapeshifters in the night." Scott McCall, a Werewolf who is not yet a teenager but still an Alpha, will be able to gather new allies and reunite friends to fight against the enemy that could be their most powerful and deadly foe.
