"I am very shy. Dolin, 18, said that it was nerve-wracking to step out of my comfort zone during the Sunday episode of , the ABC competition show. "I am auditioning for my grandma, and I want her to be proud. She is 100% here with me."

The singer said that her grandma died in September. She had many heart issues and was diagnosed with COVID. It was difficult to lose my grandma. She is a dear friend and I miss her so much. She was the type of person who would push me to achieve things. She tried to get me to sing at church a few times, but I never did."

4. She isn't experienced

Even her grandmother suggested that she sing at church, which the teen turned down. Before wowing American Idol judges, she had no training.

Dolin's grandfather told her that she was afraid of flying on the first flight before her audition for American Idol.
