No stranger to wacky Eurovision candidates, Finland has outdone itself in 2024: watch the video

Eurovision 2024 will take place in less than a month now. Like every year, some candidates attract more attention than others...

Eurovision returns like spring every year, with its colorful clothes and high-pitched voices. The grand final of the European song contest has been scheduled for May 11, in Malmö, Sweden, following the victory of the Scandinavian Loreen during the previous edition. Among the Eurovision 2024 participants who are sure to stand out, the special mention is awarded, as is often the case, to the Nordic countries.

The group which will represent Finland this year has already succeeded in making an impression with astonishing performances during the national selections and the Eurovision artists' tour, which precedes the big competition. To perform the title “No Rules!”, the duo Windows95man (that’s their name) didn’t pull any punches. The performance begins with the arrival on stage of a giant egg, from which a strange weirdo emerges while an MC grabs a microphone in the background. Here is the performance posted on the official Eurovision YouTube:

The first of the two artists, sporting big glasses, a mustache and balding Polnareff-style blonde curls, then appears on stage half-naked, simply dressed in a t-shirt with the Windows 95 logo, a cap and a Flesh-colored briefs. All without forgetting a pair of sandals clearly revealing thick gray socks. After sending beats that a DJ from the "Dance machine" years in the 1990s would not deny, he sways his hips for almost three minutes and lets the audience enjoy his hoarse voice, while his sidekick screams with more or less less conviction.

Depending on the version, dancers and extras can come to enhance the show, which is obviously full of second degree. At the end of the song, the first member of Windows95man ends up grabbing a pair of shorts, hanging on a clothesline, as if falling from the sky, to cheers. Highlight of the show: the shorts suddenly release a jet of lightning worthy of the best fireworks.

We are obviously expecting a reaction from Bill Gates, or rather from the current CEO of Microsoft Satya Nadella. In any case, this reference, even ironic, to the hegemonic exploitation system in the mid-1990s may not be to everyone's taste. If during the final stages of Eurovision the Windows 95 logo will be blurred, the Finnish candidate may also have to change his name, as product placement is prohibited during the competition.

Obviously, the Finns will not be the only oddballs at Eurovision 2024. Dutch singer Joost Klein should also stand out with “Europapa”, a completely crazy techno track, accompanied by lyrics singing about the unity of Europe. All with an ideal look to leave a lasting memory with the jurors. Eurovision in all its glory.
