Style! Prince William, Duchess Kate have been passionate environmental advocates and celebrated green activism at the inaugural Earthshot Prize Awards.

Both the Duke and Duchess were 39 when they attended the celebration in London, wearing recycled formalwear.

She is a mother to Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The dress was first worn by the Duchess Kate in 2011. She adhered to the event's dress code which required that guests dress in environmentally-conscious fashions. For the occasion, Duchess Kate wore long hair down and curled and added delicate diamond earrings.

For his part, her husband looked smart in a green velvet jacket, which matched the green carpet, and a pair of black trousers.

William launched the Earthshot Prize under the leadership and guidance of Royal Foundation earlier this year. He hoped to find "the most inspirational solutions to the greatest challenges in the world" over the next ten years.

"These solutions will work at every level, have positive effects on environmental change, and improve living standards worldwide, especially for communities most at-risk from climate change," 's website stated. Prizes can be given to many people, groups or collaborations: scientists, economists, activists, community leaders, politicians, banks, business, cities, countries, and anyone who has contributed significantly to the achievement of the Earthshots.

There are many awards ceremonies around the globe, but the first one will be held in London. Clara Amfo, Dermot O'Leary, and Clara Amfo host it. The Prize Council's accomplished panel, which includes Cate Blanchett and Shakira, will choose the recipient.

Prince Charles presented the awards before the ceremony. was a sweet tribute to his oldest son and praised his efforts in creating the program.

"I am proud of my son William for his growing commitment towards the environment and the bold ambitions of the Earthshot Prize," said the Prince of Wales, 72. He tweeted his admiration from his official Clarence House account. We must all work together as a global community to create, reimagine, and build the sustainable future that we desperately need.

The Duke of Cambridge had made headlines days earlier when he voiced concern about civilian space travel.

"We need some world's greatest minds and brains focused on trying to fix this planet, and not trying to locate the next place where to live," the royal stated to BBC News on Thursday October 14, stating that he has "absolutely zero interest" in going into space considering the "fundamental question” of carbon costs for such a journey.

William continued to discuss why he advocated for the environmental prize instead. He explained, "It's what sold it to me. It really is crucial to be focusing and sustaining this [planet] than turning away and going out into space to find solutions for the future.

He also stated that the future of his children inspired him to help the cause.

He stated that he wanted the things he's enjoyed, the outdoor lifestyle and the kind of environment -- he wants that to be there for all children . "If we don't take care, we are robbing our children's future."
