Netflix subscribers can discover “Rebel Moon Part 2: The Slasher”, a sequel to Zack Snyder’s science fiction film released at the end of 2023, from April 19.
Zack Snyder is back on Netflix. After the first episode of her science fiction space opera Rebel Moon released in December 2023, the second part is put online on the streaming platform this Friday, April 19, 2024. Those who have followed Kora's adventures expect to discover the continuation of the battle which will oppose the village of Veldt to the Mother World. During this second episode, Netflix subscribers will be able to discover the clash between the two armies
Although the first episode was strongly criticized by the press and by a section of the public, it still remained at the top of the rankings for the streaming period during the end-of-year holidays with more than 72.9 million views between the end of December and mid-January according to the platform's audience report, Tudum, 90 million according to Zack Snyder's approximations in March 2024. However, compared to other Netflix films released in December (like Knives Out or Don't look up -cosmic denial), the audiences were lower (136.3 million views for the first, 171.4 million for the second).
It is therefore a safe bet that Rebel Moon: Part 2 – The Slasher will still attract an audience of curious science fiction fans or those who were hooked by the first episodes. And perhaps some hope to see the franchise continue beyond that. For now, no part 3 has yet been officially announced by the streaming platform. As is often the case, we will have to wait for the audience figures for this second opus for the fate of Zack Snyder's space opera to be fixed.
However, director's cuts of parts 1 and 2 should indeed be released, adding an hour more to each of the films thanks to new scenes. Spin-offs would also be under study, such as a series dedicated to Balisarius (played by Fra Fee) and other characters from the franchise. However, let's wait for official announcements from Netflix to be sure. Rebel Moon: Part 1 and Rebel Moon: Part 2 are both already available on the streaming platform for subscribers.
