CANNES FESTIVAL 2024. We finally know the list of films, directors and stars who will be present on the Croisette this year. We take stock of the 2024 official selection of the Cannes Film Festival.

Final stretch before the start of the next Cannes Film Festival. The 77th edition of the event is being prepared behind the scenes. This Thursday, April 11, the list of films in competition was finally announced with a crowd expected for movie buffs: this Tuesday, May 14, Quentin Dupieux will open the festival with his latest film, The Second Act, with Louis Garrel, Léa Seydoux, Vincent Lindon and Raphaël Quenard. The next day, Furiosa, a prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road, was screened on the Croisette.

Around twenty films are in competition at Cannes in 2024, out of some 2,000 feature films viewed. This edition will notably mark the great return of a giant, Francis Ford Coppola, for Megalopolis, who will share the red carpet with David Cronenberg, Yorgos Lanthimos, Jia Zhangke among others. A winner on the list of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival already: director and producer George Lucas, creator of “Star Wars”, who will receive the honorary Palme d’Or, as the organizers announced ago A few days.

Five French films will be presented at the Cannes Film Festival: Emilia Perez by Jacques Audiard, Marcello Mio by Christophe Honoré, L'Amour ouf by Gilles Lellouche, Diamant brut by Agathe Riedinger and The Substance by Coralie Fargeat.

The stars will arrive on the Croisette in the coming weeks. The city will be adorned with the colors of cinema, with red carpets, screenings and many other events, from May 14 to 25, 2024. French actress Camille Cottin has been chosen as mistress of ceremonies, and will be responsible for opening and close the festival. The jury for the next Cannes Film Festival is not yet known. However, we know that Greta Gerwig, director of Barbie and Dr. March's Daughters, has been chosen as president of the 2024 jury. The names of the professionals who will accompany her in developing the list will be revealed a few weeks before the event.
