Roy Loney, the original frontman for the californian alternative rock band the Flamin' Groovies, has passed away.

Rolling Stone writes that the Roy Loney died Friday of organ failure at a hospital in San Francisco.

the Veteran was hospitalized last week and woke never from an operation.

Roy Loney was a founding Flamin' Groovies in San Francisco in 1965. He left the group in 1971.


the Flamin' Groovies bridged the gap between garagerock and punk and have inspired influential rock artists as, among others, Jack White and Primal Scream.

the Band is most known for the single 'Shake Some Action' from the abummet of the same name, which was released in 1976.

the Flamin' Groovies were in 2017, headlined the garagerockfestivalen Guys City in Roskilde.

Roy Loney appeared as a guest at several of the group's concerts in recent years, but a decline in the San Francisco International Airport in the spring put a stop to his turnéaktiviteter.

The historic singer's girlfriend, Vivian Altmann, says to the San Francisco Chronicle, that he both was born and died on Friday 13.
