Materadio, the festival of Radio 3 and the European Capital of Culture

"Materadio 2019" is the Festival of radio 3, which will be held in Matera from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 September, and is the result of a long journey that this year has come to its stage, more waiting. "A journey we have traveled together - says the director of radio 3 Marino Sinibaldi - us Rai radio 3 along with the city of Matera from when, at the beginning of these years began the challenge to recognize the City of the Sassi as a European Capital of Culture. The Festival of radio 3 for the past almost two decades has accompanied this challenge, and also to recount how a cultural project that could help redefine a city and represent a point of reference for other places, to other realities in search of a new idea itself, of a new form of community and citizenship".

This year you tried to do a budget, to try to understand how the city has truly transformed in these years, and if, beyond the formal title, the culture really has become a factor of collective identity. The artists, the guests, the themes of this edition of Materadio have been chosen to provide ideas, voices, and sounds, that help to represent and understand "the South": by Mimmo Cuticchio to Vito Mancuso, from the historical Alessandro Vanoli and Amedeo Feniello, up to the musicians Rinaldo Alessandrini, Teresa De Sio, Trilok Gurtu, Jan Garbarek, and the Modena City Ramblers, going to shows, Enzo Moscato, Mario Gelardi and Easter Scialò and from the reflections of a trade unionist Aboubakar Soumahoro and Goffredo Fofi, up to try to discover what is Matera seen from the moon, thanks to Samantha Cristoforetti. In short, programmes, interviews, debates, performances to which the public can participate through the radio, or live, taking part simply to a party. "It will be our way of saying goodbye to a place," says the director of Radio 3 - and, above all, its extraordinary inhabitants, the citizens of a journey that we have shared and that we are enriched".

remember that in the “Village” in piazza san Francesco in Matera there will be a space entirely dedicated to children and young people to discover the crafts of the Tv, thanks to this initiative, Rai, Doors Open, from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 September from 10 to 13 and from 16 to 19, children and young people can play a game of "radio and television", supported by professionals of the Rai.
