Haute couture, or horror?

It's all about you!Victoria BeckhamAlthough her latest Instagram look is high fashion, some people think it looks very much like Annabelle's scary doll.

Haute couture, or horror?

The entire story started as fun and games when the 47-year old fashion designer shared a hilarious meme of her in the dress with her 29 million Instagram followers.

"One of my favourite New York looks is now on sale at victoriabeckham.com, and in our Dover Street shop! She captioned the photo, "@davidbeckham also loves it," which features her husband photoshopped.David BeckhamFollowing her words: "Ooh lala!"

In the picture, the Spice Girls singer is wearing the Ruffle Detail Pleated Midi Dress in Vanilla from her eponymous line, which rings in at a whopping total of $1,890. The long-sleeved number was paired with a silk georgette red collar and suede blue pumps. A black clutch was also included.

Fans quickly began to make comparisons between this high-end gown and the doll from horror movie Annabelle. It's easy to see why the look-alike moment was created with a red collar and puff sleeves.

One user commented that it looked like a high fashion Annabelle, while another said, "A walking Annabelle." Another added, "The beginning slide, I thought it was Annabelle doll from back."

As other users pointed out, the horror film trend continues. The dress reminded them of Saw and looked like something from the Handmaid's Tale.

Others thought that the dress looked like an oversized pinata, freakshow or straight jacket.

However, her shoe selection did earn her points with critics. One user commented, "I love the shoes, but that dress is no way, looks terrible." Another user commented: "Love the shoes!" The dress is not for me. The red neckpiece is it a part? It's odd.

The dress is popular with brand fans, despite the criticisms. It has already been sold out in all sizes.

Beckham recently restructured her fashion line by combining her more accessible Victoria, Victoria Beckham line with her luxurious Victoria Beckham line.

She told Vogue UK that the average price of our products will drop from over 900 euros to 550 euros without sacrificing quality, desirability and ready-to wear aesthetic. We saw so much opportunity and change in how people dress and shop. If you like, we found a sweet spot at this price point.
