High schools threatened with explosion and closed in Alsace: “The kids are scared to death”

Schools in Strasbourg remain closed this Monday, following threats of terrorist attacks.

The authorities take very seriously the threats made against several high schools in Alsace this Monday March 25. The Kléber high school in Strasbourg is closed this Monday morning, after management received a malicious message announcing an attack on the night of Sunday March 24 to Monday March 25. According to information from BFMTV, an email was sent to staff and students at Kléber middle and high school, mentioning an attack with firearms and explosives targeting “Arab and Muslim people”.

The buildings were inspected by police last night, but classes remain suspended until at least 2 p.m. BFM Alsace reports the testimony of a parent, who gives a good account of the students' state of mind: "The kids are scared to death. Some come from far away and couldn't turn around when they took knowledge of the situation. This morning, the police are still on site at the Kléber high school to ensure the security of the site.

Threats also target two high schools in Colmar: the Bartholdi and Blaise Pascal establishments. Both buildings are being inspected and did not open their doors to students this Monday morning. The president of the Grand Est region Franck Leroy reacted on Twitter (X): "Since last night, calls for racist murders have invaded the 'My digital office' messaging services, often coupled with bomb threats." The elected official condemns “intolerable acts” and hopes “that these acts will be severely punished”.

These threats come as the Vigipirate plan has been pushed to its maximum level, following the attack which left 137 dead Friday evening in Moscow. Furthermore, more than 150 middle and high schools in Ile-de-France and Hauts-de-France received threats of attack at the end of last week. Threats that were considered a bad joke.
