Bordeaux: one dead and one injured after a knife attack, the assailant killed by the police

One dead and one seriously injured in a knife attack in Bordeaux. The attacker was shot dead by the police.

At the beginning of the evening, this Wednesday, April 10, gunshots were heard near the city center of Bordeaux (Gironde). According to several witnesses, a man was seen attacking two people with a knife. One of the victims was killed, the other was seriously injured. His vital prognosis is in jeopardy. As he walked away, the assailant did not drop his knife as the police approached. “A police officer had a weapon, he fired and the guy fell,” a witness told the Sud-Ouest newspaper.

Called to the scene, the police fatally injured the assailant. The attacker's motives are currently unknown. The prefect of Gironde, the Public Prosecutor and the mayor of Bordeaux are on site. According to Le Figaro, which cites a police source, the possibility of a brawl is currently favored.
