Better not to forget certain dates in the calendar.

Let's go ! Like every year, it is now time to declare all of your income for taxes to find out what amount you will have to pay to the State in a few weeks. If the bill is now spread throughout the year thanks to withholding tax, it remains essential to complete the traditional form, directly in your personal space on the tax site or the paper version received by mail.

A little less than 40 million French people must, since April 11, take this step, regardless of the income received. Even the most modest have the obligation to inform the tax administration of their financial resources. This is not synonymous with paying a tax since only 18 million taxpayers have to pay an amount to the tax authorities.

Although a lot of information is automatically transmitted and reporting is becoming easier, there are still deadlines to respect. The form must be completed before a certain date, which varies depending on the person's department of residence. It's simple: it depends on your department number. Thus, in France, some citizens have six weeks to complete the process, while others benefit from two additional weeks. Here are the deadlines to remember by department:

It is imperative to note them in the calendar because sending your tax return once the deadline has passed exposes you to a fine. For a "slight" delay, that is to say a few days after closing, the amount of your tax will be increased by 10%. If a formal notice is sent to you, the increase increases to 20%, then to 40% in the event that 30 days have passed since receipt of the formal notice. To which must be added slight late payment interest applied in addition to the increase (0.20% per month of delay).

In short, don't think about avoiding going to the checkout by not filling out your declaration: it's better to put an alert in the calendar, the bill will always be less steep.
