Jenna Dewan mourns the 'Sudden Death' of Violet Mae: "Our Hearts are Broken Today"

On Friday, the Soundtrack alum, aged 40, shared a slideshow of photos via Instagram with their pet dog.

Dewan wrote, "Our hearts are broken today and we mourn the sudden death of our Violet Mae," in her caption. "Violet was one of the most sweetest women I ever met, she was the best sneaky kisser and calmed me in all the chaos. Everybody who knew you loved you, and it was one of the greatest privileges in my life to have spent the last few years with your family."

The Step Up star revealed that Violet was Kazee's first dog and that she fell in love with her when they started dating in October 2018.

Dewan wrote that the bond Steve and I shared is only once in a lifetime. Her family misses him beyond words. I am still holding onto the owl that we saw last night on our porch right after your passing, as a sign of your beautiful and wise soul. My sweet Vi Vi, I love you."

Kazee, 45 years old, shared a touching tribute to his 9-year-old dog via his Instagram. He also included a collection photos of the pair.

"Violet Mae Kazee 2012-2021. He wrote that to know her was to love him. She was more than just a friend. She was my rock and my salvation. It was hard for me to believe that I could survive after losing my mom. Violet came along and we became soulmates from the very first moment.

He revealed that Violet was not the dog he originally planned to adopt. However, Violet was waiting for him at the shelter after Jessie, a black lab-mix mix, died. He continued, "She was sitting in a pile with brothers and sisters who were all losing our minds as puppies tend" "Not her. She stared at me. Violet looked into my soul. "I knew she was the right one for me and we have never looked back."

Kazee said that the years they spent together were full of "adventures," which included cross-country road trips and beach days, hikes up Griffith Observatory, cuddles, and many cuddles. In the Instagram tribute, he refers to Violet his "true North".
