Robbie Amell, who worked together with his cousin Stephen Amell on jobs such as The Flash, formerly clarified how they seemed too alike to share scenes with each other.
"It is tough, we're pretty similar in appearance. We are not likely to play associated," Robbie told Entertainment Weekly at December 2019. "That was part of the reason they wouldn't allow [our personalities ] speak to one another on The Flash, they were like,'It is too weird. Folks know you are related, you can't talk to one another.'
Robbie and Stephen would later go on to work collectively on their crowd-funded movie, Code 8.
"Part of this was we just wanted to make something . We figured if we weren't willing to take a bet on ourselves, and why should we expect anyone else to?" Robbie clarified to EW. "We wanted to give it a shot and make something which we would be proud of, something that people backing us will be pleased with."
Richard Kelly formerly talked about having to talk Maggie into accepting the role in Donnie Darko along with her brother.
"Immediately, she was like,'Richard, you are only offering this to me personally because I'm Jake's big sister. You should be finding the best actress for the role,'" the director told Vox in April 2017. "So she was already trying to talk me out of casting her, at a very selfless way. And I was just really impressed by that... So I was actually determined to convince her to take action after that."
The movie wouldn't be what it had been with no brother-sister dynamic that Maggie and Jake brought to their roles.
"Maggie was actually an essential part of the puzzle that makes that family lively work in the film," Kelly added. "I am thankful that she consented to perform the role."
Dave Franco also went out of his way to not work together with his brother James Franco earlier on in his profession.
"For a little while, I made a conscious decision not to use him, simply because I wanted to pave my own course," Dave said during a meeting with Variety in November 2017. "I didn't want to be known as'James Franco's little brother' for the remainder of my life. But we've got very similar sensibilities."
