Serie A: Igor Tudor leaves Hellas Verona

Croatian Igor Tudor will step down as Verona coach after failing to reach an agreement with his bosses, the Serie A club announced on Saturday. The Verona club said in a statement that the two sides had agreed to a separation despite a rather successful season, completed in 9th place thanks in particular to the trio of attackers composed of Giovanni Simeone, Antonin Barak and Gianluca Caprari.

“We both understood that the conditions were not met for us to continue together,” explained the 44-year-old Croatian technician after an interview with club president Maurizio Setti. The former Croatia and Juventus defender took charge of Verona in September after Eusebio Di Francesco was sacked after three defeats in their opening three league games.

According to Italian media, Gabriele Cioffi is the favorite to take over the job after Udinese decided not to renew his contract at the end of the season.
