MotoGP: pole for rookie Di Giannantonio in Italy, Zarco and Quartararo on the second row

It's good to be a Gresini rider in MotoGP. Two weeks after the victory at Le Mans of Enea Bastianini, leader of the championship with three victories, it was his teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio who won his first career pole this Saturday at the Italian Grand Prix. The 23-year-old Italian rookie beat his two compatriots Marco Bezzechi and Luca Marini, both members of Valentino Rossi's team (VR46), honored this weekend at Mugello.

Relegated to 5 hundredths from the podium, Johann Zarco (Ducati-Pramac) will start in fourth position on Sunday. Two rows behind, Fabio Quartararo will start sixth on a circuit that hardly suits the characteristics of his Yamaha, but more to those of the Ducati of Francesco Bagnaia, sandwiched between the two French riders (5th) after having dominated the last session of trials. Victim of a new fall earlier in the session, Marc Marquez (Honda) set the 12th time.
