R. Kelly found guilty of Sex Trafficking, Rape and Racketeering. He is now facing life in prison

The 54 year-old rapper was convicted of all nine charges he was accused of. This includes one count of racketeering with 14 underlying acts including sexual exploitation, kidnapping and sex traficking.

Kelly was also convicted on eight counts of violating the Mann Act. This sex trafficking law prohibits "any woman or girl" from being transported across state borders for "immoral purposes." Kelly could spend between 10 and life imprisonment for his crimes. His sentencing hearing will take place on May 4, 2022.

A jury of seven men and five ladies decided the fate of "I Believe I Can Fly" singer. The trial had been in progress for more than a month when the deliberations began.

Over five weeks, testimony was heard from Kelly's alleged victims. The jury then called Jane Does. Jane Doe was the first to represent Aaliyah who died in 2001.

Multiple witnesses were present at Aaliyah’s 1994 marriage to the Illinois native. He was 27 years old at the time, and she was just 15. Kelly claimed that she was only 18 at the time they got married, according to copies of her marriage license.

The prosecution called 45 witnesses during the trial. Many women told their stories of sexual abuse at Kelly's hands, who is actually Robert Sylvester Kelly.

Jerhonda pace claimed that she met the "Bump N' Grind" singer at 16 and she told him she was 19. The two got involved. She claimed that Kelly got upset because she was distracted by her phone and made her perform oral sex.

She said, "I went to Rob’s house and he called my a bitch." He called me a stupid bitch. He slapped my face three times, and told me that if I lie to him again, it won't be an open hand the next time. During an argument, he choked me. I had sex. I had oral sex. I confessed to him when I got back home."

Another witness, Stephanie claimed she met Kelly in 1999, when she was 17, and was invited to his studio.

She testified that she remembered Kelly asking her about her age. Stephanie said that Kelly sexually assaulted and recorded her having sex with Kelly.

Monday's verdict comes thirteen years after Kelly was acquitted of child pornography allegations at an Illinois state court.

Kelly's legal problems didn't end there. Kelly pleaded guilty to 11 sexual assault charges in June 2019. He was arrested in Chicago the following month on federal sex crimes.

The Hennepin County Attorney's Office of Minnesota in August 2019 charged Kelly with two counts prostitution with a minor. Kelly pleaded not guilty and maintains his innocence.
