Jean Lassalle: complaint for rape and sexual assault dismissed

This Friday, March 29, the Bordeaux public prosecutor's office announced the dismissal of the rape complaint against Jean Lassalle. A 45-year-old woman denounced events which allegedly occurred in 2010 in a hotel in Bordeaux.

The news broke this Friday. The complaint for rape and sexual assault filed by a 45-year-old woman against Jean Lassalle was dismissed by the Bordeaux public prosecutor's office, reveals France Bleu Béarn Bigorre. “The investigations do not make it possible to establish the existence of a criminal offense,” concluded the magistrates. According to local radio, material elements were missing to prove the facts denounced and they could not be provided.

The facts alleged against the former MP allegedly took place in 2010. The woman accuses him of having raped and sexually assaulted her in a hotel room in Bordeaux during the campaign for the regional elections. The former presidential candidate declared that he had “never raped anyone” after his hearing at the Bordeaux judicial police in November 2023. At that time, the prosecution declared that “no prosecution [was] ] brought against him". He was also released from police custody.

After the announcement of the classification without follow-up, this Friday March 29, Jean Lassalle said he was “relieved”. "Put yourself in my place, this is still the kind of accusation that could land you in court and land you in prison. It's a crime. So, what a relief to be free of it!" he confided to the microphone of France Bleu.
