Death of Emile: Parents receive immense support before burial

Emile's parents spoke for the first time since the discovery of the little boy's bones. The mother says she is “very touched” by the much support they have received.

Their speech is rare. The parents of little Emile broke their silence this Wednesday, April 17, three weeks after the discovery of bones belonging to their son. It was on the group “Pray for Emile”, created on Facebook after the disappearance of the little boy, that the child’s mother spoke for the first time since the investigation confirmed Emile’s death.

The little boy's family sent a "huge thank you" to the many supports they have received. This thank you is particularly addressed to the hundreds of people who participated in the prize pool put online at the beginning of April to “help [the family] offer a beautiful funeral” for Emile and masses for his loved ones. It was already on this group that the mother spoke for the first time in July 2023, two days after Emile's disappearance.

Hundreds of people, nearly 650 as of April 17, participated in the fundraiser dedicated to family support. The amount raised is not public, but Emile's parents say they "received a first part". “We are always very touched by your compassion” adds the little boy’s mother in her message. In addition to financial support for the child's burial, the family says they receive many messages of support and try to read them all "whether comments, private messages, letters..."

Little Emile, who was two and a half years old, disappeared on July 8, 2023 in the hamlet of Haut-Vernet, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, while he was being looked after by his maternal grandparents. No trace of the little boy had been found until March 30 and the discovery of bones by a hiker just 2 kilometers from the site of his disappearance. The clothes the child was wearing the day he disappeared were also found nearby. The analysis of the bones carried out by the Criminal Research Institute of the National Gendarmerie (IRCGN) confirmed that they were those of the child, but did not make it possible to determine the cause of the death. dead.
