Apple would enter the race for the foldable device market in 2025

An analyst report highlights the brand's new approaches to production. The very first foldable MacBook and foldable iPhone would be there.

While waiting for tomorrow's Apple conference, which should notably unveil the release of two new iPads, information from analysts is putting their hands on new projects for the Apple brand. Long awaited, some of these projects should be realized in the years to come by the famous American brand.

A recent report from Jeff Fu, analyst at Haitong Commercial Securities, states that Apple would begin to intensify its production of foldable devices in the coming months. This press release, previously consulted by 9toMac, announces the intensification of production of a 20.3-inch foldable device by 2025. Various sources suggest that it will be a new foldable MacBook, intermediate between a laptop and a tablet. This information was also mentioned by Ming-Chi Kuo, analyst at TF1 International, who was however projecting towards the year 2027.

But that's not all since a foldable iPhone would also be considered for 2026. Apple would offer two screen sizes according to the analyst: 7.9 and 8.3 inches. The company would thus target “very high-end” customers. Recently, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) published a patent filed last October by the brand, detailing the hinge designed for a folding device.

If Apple waited all these years before launching into the production of foldable phones, it's not for nothing. Aware of the design problems which are still far from quality standards, the Cupertino company intends to catch up. Its place in the market will be in close competition against big customers that we keep talking about: the Samsung Z Flip and Z Fold. If the arrival on the market does not seem to be happening right away, Apple is well known for taking its time and offering sophisticated devices.

However, the dates mentioned in the report would by no means be definitive. It would be possible for the devices to undergo final adjustments before being marketed, which would explain possible delays in sales. Everything suggests that the first leaks on these products should not take long.
