No one noticed this major detail in the latest House of the Dragon trailer

A few seconds of one of the trailers for the rest of the series announces a shocking moment which will be revealed in season 2, in June 2024. And you may have missed it.

Fans of House of the Dragon were spoiled on March 21. HBO has released not one, but two trailers for season 2 of the Game of Thrones spinoff series. In these two epic videos, it is possible to discover the two belligerents in the war that has been brewing since season 1: the Blacks (Rhaenyra Targaryen and her family) and the Greens (King Aegon and the Hightowers).

These two trailers are full of details and appearances that the biggest fans of the series have already been able to begin to dissect and analyze. But it's not easy to spot them all, even for the most seasoned fans of House of the Dragon. One of them is also a very short and enigmatic passage from the “Vert” trailer: we can see two men from behind, one holding a torch, the other a weapon, passing through a secret passage. Alicent and her daughter, Queen Helaena Targaryen, are later seen wrapped in black veils.

At priori, this sequence may seem anecdotal, but readers of the novel A Song of Ice and Fire know that it does not bode well. It is in fact a nod to the arrival of two particularly terrible characters, named "Blood and Cheese", one being a rat catcher, the other a former sergeant of the guard. What is certain is that they will leave an indelible mark on the rest of the saga and be at the origin of one of the most shocking scenes of it.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Ryan Condal, co-creator of House of the Dragon, remains mysterious about their arrival in season 2 but confirms that it is indeed them in this sequence. He also warns fans: "A Song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones have conditioned viewers to expect the worst and the unexpected. But yes, what's going to happen in this scene is pretty horrific. We'll see how people react to what's going to happen."

These are obviously not the only details that can be found in the two trailers. The most observant will have seen a Stark, Cregan, talking to Jacaerys, but also Alicent's older brother, Gwayne Hightower. The dragons are also memorable, like Sunfyre or Seasmoke. Season 2 of House of the Dragon is coming very soon to reveal all its mysteries. The first episode will be broadcast on June 16, 2024 in the United States, and it will be available the next day in France. For the moment, we do not yet know on which platform it will be broadcast in our French territory.
