The Latest Celebrity Home Design Trends

Imagine living in DJ Khaled’s $4.8 million Miami mansion overflowing with over-the-top amenities like a granite staircase, 14k gold chandeliers, a boat lift, and a private movie theater. Most impressive, however, is the home’s giant sneaker closet that can fit 500 pairs of shoes. When it comes to celebrity homes, their interior design choices certainly never fail to disappoint. The good news is that the latest home design trends of the rich and famous can often also be affordably incorporated into smaller abodes.

Open floor plans

Open floor plans are an increasingly popular home design trend, industry experts Mangum Home Builders reveal. An open concept — which typically combines the kitchen, dining area and living room — lets people better live the lifestyles they want to live. The homeowner can prepare food in the kitchen while their kids watch TV on the sofa or guests talk around the dining table. Celeb-wise, Chrissy Teigan and John Legend have taken advantage of this trend. Their $17.5 million Beverly Hills mansion features dark hardwood floors throughout, while maintaining a light, bright and open feel — largely thanks to the huge floor-length windows providing city and canyon views. The kitchen is home to a large marble island and cutting-edge appliances, and flows into the spacious living room, which in turn opens onto a large deck and swimming pool.

Modern art

The vast wealth of celebrities allows them to go big when it comes to art in interior design. However, Kendall Jenner’s beautiful $8.5 million LA mansion shows us just how even a single piece of pretty artwork is enough to accessorize an otherwise understated and peaceful interior. In particular, Kendall’s home features a beautiful James Turrel light installation. Shaped in an oblong, this lovely installation blends into the wall and emits an alluring warm and pink glow. Additionally, a statement neon Tracey Emin sculpture is displayed in the low-key bedroom, while the Waterworks mirror and fixtures in the pool bath simply yet beautifully complement the blue mosaic tiles. These striking art features can easily be imitated with smaller budgets.

Outdoor entertainment areas

A stylish and functional outdoor entertainment area is a must for celebrities during the summer months. Just look at Gwyneth Paltrow’s home in the Hamptons, which comes with a stunning outdoor kitchen: this outdoor area is packed with state-of-the-art equipment like a Josper grill, refrigerated drawers, a sink, and a wood burning oven for pizza. Meanwhile Jennifier Lopez’s LA mansion features a patio with a fireplace and an outdoor bar. Fortunately, anyone can spruce up their patio or terrace to create an outdoor area that features as a focal point for entertaining and socializing.

These latest trends in celebrity home design not only show us how the stars like to unwind in their free time, but also the latest cutting-edge features enhancing home life. Open floor plans, modern art, and outdoor entertainment areas are some of the best ways celebrities are making the most of their homes.
