Return of frost, coldest day: temperatures drop below 0 degrees this Tuesday

In April, don't uncover yourself by a thread! This Tuesday, April 23, minimum temperatures will fall, in a large part of the country, below the symbolic bar of 0°C. We take stock.

Cold snap ahead! While we thought winter was behind us, spring temperatures have hardly been there in recent days. And Tuesday will be no exception. Worse still, you'll have to "scratch the windshield" if your car is sleeping outside, warns The Weather Channel. April 23 has already been called the coldest day of the week. On the program: usual temperatures of... the end of February, and a cold feeling linked to the north wind which will blow over part of France. Ouest-France indicates that temperatures on average 6 to 7°C lower, compared to seasonal norms, are expected on Tuesday morning.

Light frosts will extend “from Normandy and Picardy towards Centre-Val de Loire, Auvergne Rhône-Alpes and the North-East quarter”, warns Météo-France in its forecasts, while La Chaîne Météo forecasts that three quarters of the regions will be affected by bitter and dry cold, with frosts in the morning in the plains and valleys and temperatures which will sometimes drop below 0°C. In the afternoon, the thermometer will rise slightly. Météo-France details the temperatures that can be expected by region: “We generally expect 10 to 12 degrees from the North-East to Normandy and the Massif Central, 13 to 14 degrees in the western plains, up to 15- 16 degrees heading towards the coast.”

The Mediterranean region will not escape this cold snap. “The maximums are also timid for the season with only 15 to 17 degrees” Tuesday afternoon, again according to Météo-France. Beyond Tuesday, this cold episode is expected to continue on Wednesday. But temperatures will start to rise from Thursday, Météo-France announces. On Friday, temperatures will continue to rise for a return to seasonal normals across the country hoped for on Saturday.
