On Saturday, a stabbing attack in a Sydney shopping center left several people dead. This Monday, a church was targeted.

Six people were killed in a stabbing attack at a Sydney shopping center on Saturday. It was perpetrated by a man suffering from mental illness; the terrorist motive has not yet been established. While the city is in mourning, a new tragedy occurred in a church in the Wakeley district, more precisely at Christ The Good Shepherd Church, this Monday, April 15. According to local authorities, Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel and several worshipers were stabbed during a religious service.

According to Le Figaro, which reports a live broadcast, the attacker approached the altar, raised his right arm before hitting the preacher with a knife. Some faithful then came to his aid as a scene of panic invaded the religious establishment. Injured, the victims' lives would not be in danger. They were treated by paramedics before being transferred to hospital. According to AFP, these are four men aged between 20 and 70, treated in particular for lacerations.

An armed man was arrested after the attack, as announced by law enforcement on X. Police responded to the scene following a call at 7:10 p.m. (local time) informing them of the stabbing of several people. Police intervention is still ongoing and residents are urged to avoid the area. The motives for the attack remain unknown at this time.
