Many employees risk losing vacation days if they do not check this document

In just two minutes, it is possible to avoid a blunder that costs a little rest.

It is a right that should not be forgotten. With five weeks of paid leave, French employees are among the best off in terms of vacation authorized each year. This is the legal minimum available to all workers in France. In some companies, some benefit from more days. But beware of accumulation... This one is limited in time!

Indeed, it is provided in the texts that the days of leave must be used within a certain period. However wide it may be, employees sometimes forget to take the vacation time to which they are entitled and therefore automatically lose these precious days. It is therefore better to be vigilant. To do this, you must particularly check one document: its leave application tool.

On it is written the number of days you have. They are separated into two categories: “paid leave 2023/2024” and, already, “paid leave 2024/2025”. But for some, a third line is also present: “paid leave 2022/2023”. This means that all vacation days accumulated between June 1, 2022 and May 31, 2023 have not been used. However, don't think you can keep them warm for much longer to be able to make a big break by combining them with other days off.

In most companies, they must be installed before May 31, 2024. Otherwise, these days will be lost and will not be recoverable. This rule is the general provision in force de facto in all companies. It is therefore better to pay attention to your balance so as not to be fooled. However, some may choose not to knowingly use certain days in order to place them in their Time Savings Account (CET), if they have one. The CET can then be used to obtain remuneration during leave initially without pay or even during a sabbatical period.

Furthermore, other - rarer - rules exist within certain companies. First of all, the fact that vacations can be further postponed and postponed, but also that the days not taken are paid to the employee. These specificities are only applied within the framework of a company agreement or collective agreement, and only concern a small part of the employees.
