The former head of the list of La France insoumise is campaigning for the European elections by claiming to be part of Nupes, even though the LFI partners have deserted the coalition.

France Insoumise has still not officially revealed who its head of list would be in the European elections on June 9, 2024. But Manon Aubry has already decided to return. The one who led the LFI list in 2019 confirmed her candidacy in the columns of the daily Ouest-France on Tuesday January 23. Above all, she is committed to “carrying out the Nupes program”. A surprising statement, as the members of this left-wing alliance for the 2022 legislative elections leave in dispersed order for the European vote.

The Socialist Party, Europe Ecology The Greens and the Communist Party already have their respective heads of list. LFI's former partners in the Assembly have in turn suspended their participation in the Nupes intergroup, following disagreements in particular over the conflict in the Middle East. They have all repeatedly rejected the rebels' offers of alliance with the Europeans. Jean-Luc Mélenchon himself recorded the death of the coalition, of which he was the great instigator.

However, Manon Aubry does not want to forget this historic alliance, which had signed a common program in the spring of 2022, largely inspired by that of Mélenchon in the presidential election: “I am also going back into battle to carry the Nupes program in these elections, which allowed us to raise hope on the left a year ago,” she declares.

Through her mandate, the MEP wishes to fight to “bring back real life to slightly hushed institutions which legislate for our daily lives”. She hopes to “continue these fights against austerity, against free trade agreements, against the all-market which wants to privatize everything”. She also recalls her commitment to the fight against the influence of lobbyists in European institutions, as well as her victories on "the duty of vigilance of multinationals".
