In Vesoul, an SNU supervisor accused of sexual assault tries to justify himself by his past

A young SNU supervisor is accused of sexual assault by several minor participants. He tried to justify himself on the facts.

In place since the start of the 2019 school year, the Universal National Service is affected by a new affair. An investigation has been opened into sexual assault and sexual harassment of minors benefiting from this system. It was against a young SNU supervisor in Vesoul that such accusations were made. According to France Bleu, the suspect is 19 years old and originally from Strasbourg. He was a health assistant and supervised the adolescents in this internship. He had done his own SNU in 2019 and had started his 9th internship in Vesoul.

He was taken into custody before being released on April 25. He was also fired by the SNU management. The investigation entrusted to the territorial crime division of the Vesoul police station continues to define the exact circumstances of the facts.

Seven young boys, aged 15 to 17, reported “inappropriate” gestures during their session which began in April. Three of them filed a complaint. In particular, they allegedly suffered caresses in the hair and hands on the thighs. The supervisor also allegedly emotionally blackmailed them. “If you don’t sit on the bus next to me, I’ll sulk,” he said to one of the young people, according to the center manager.

According to Valeurs Actuelles, which broke the story, the suspect allegedly "minimized" the facts and even tried to justify himself by claiming to have been the victim of rape at the age of 5. An orphan, he moved from home to home during his childhood, reports the media.

This is also the second such case in less than a year. In May 2023, the Châlons-en-Champagne public prosecutor's office opened an investigation into "aggravated sexual assault" on a young SNU participant by a supervisor.
