Europeans 2024: Glucksmann as popular as Hayer among Macronists

Raphaël Glucksmann sees his popularity skyrocket among Macronist voters and is now on par with their official head of the list, Valérie Hayer.

They are neck and neck in voting intentions... and their popularity rating too. Valérie Hayer, head of the presidential majority list, and Raphaël Glucksmann, leader of the Socialist Party/Public Square list, seem well on their way to competing for second place in these 2024 European elections, behind the National Rally. The dispute promises to be particularly tough with one electorate: that of Emmanuel Macron. Because according to the Elabe political barometer for Les Echos published this Thursday, Glucksmann's popularity is skyrocketing among the Macronists.

Thus, 38% of Macron voters surveyed say they have a positive, or even very positive, image of the head of the Socialist list. For her part, the official candidate of the presidential camp is appreciated by 39% of respondents. The two rivals are therefore almost equal. Let us add that Raphaël Glucksmann appears on an upward dynamic: his popularity rating has increased six points in one month with the Macronist electorate. That of Valérie Hayer, on the other hand, had not been measured in April.

Does this mean that the Macronist electorate now leans to the left? Not really, if we look at the rest of the ranking of personalities popular with this group: Valérie Hayer and Raphaël Glucksmann only occupy 9th and 10th place. In front of them, we find personalities well anchored on the right such as Rachida Dati (8th), Nicolas Sarkozy (7th) and Xavier Bertrand (6th). The ranking remains largely dominated by former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, who enjoys 79% positive opinion among the voters of the President of the Republic.

The other heads of the European lists receive a much less favorable opinion among this electorate: in 15th place, Jordan Bardella (RN) enjoys 26% positive opinion. Marion Maréchal (Reconquête) takes 19th place (22%), François-Xavier Bellamy (LR) 23rd place (19%) and Manon Aubry (LFI) 28th place (14%).
