Jessica Simpson Says Nick Lachey Showed Her 'What's Left of Me' Music Video With Now-Wife Vanessa

"He showed it to me," Simpson, 40, said in a sneak peek of the Friday, March 26, event of Tamron Hall. "I opened my doors straight back to him one night from weakness."

The designer noted that it was"really wrong" of her to let him back after she filed for divorce in December 2005.

"I started my doors back up to, I don't even know, to see whether it was better a year later, months later," she clarified. "And he showed me this. I believe he had a TV series or something."

The track's visual, that was a part of Lachey's 2006 record, What's Left of Me, showcased his now-wife, Vanessa Lachey, whom he met on the music video set.

"It was literally all of the tunes he had been composing while we were together," Simpson said. "So, I meanI think he hated me whether he is saying'I Can't Hate You Anymore. '''

The"Take My Breath Away" singer opened up about the ups and downs in her connection with all the 98 Degrees singer, 47, in her memoir,'' Open Book, which was released in February 2020.

The pair married in October 2002 and split three decades later in November 2005. Simpson revealed that while lovers watched their fairy-tale romance play out on MTV's Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica for three seasons, their offscreen love was anything but perfect.

"I had the Instagram-girlfriend syndrome before it was something, and I wanted the world to see my husband at the very best light because I was hopelessly in love with him," she wrote in the publication, imagining their union crumbled because her career began to overshadow Nick's victory .

The mum of three, who stocks Maxwell, 8, Ace, 7, and Birdie, two , together with husband Eric Johnson, noted that she didn't understand what to do if her career took off and Nick's didn't.

"I didn't want to outshine him, because that just wasn't exactly what I understood," she wrote. "He looked so much older than me, my guide at everything. I want him to feel like he can show me everything he knew -- about the business, around the globe."

"I wish we were the kind of individuals who could divorce and also stay friends. We were not, and I regret my actions hurt him," she wrote.

The bestselling writer announced the release a new paperback version of her memoir before this month, including journal entries from her past and a new debut.

In 1 journal page, she detailed how sad she was when she discovered the boy bander had proceeded on with Vanessa, 40, whom he married in 2011.

"So, Nick, you're with another already?" Simpson wrote in the journal passage. "Sounds that you simply forgot that the love you spoke to me"

She added:"I'm saddened beyond belief. Alone in the dark, without needing to call my own."

Nick, that shares three children, Camden, 8, Brooklyn, 6, and Phoenix, 4, together with Vanessa, previously told Us that he had"not read a single word" of his ex's publication. He also claimed in February 2020 that Simpson did not reach out before it was printed .
