The staff was called in to allmøte Friday. Several of them come to lose your job, but still reacted to them with applause and light that it still is operating at the yard.

This is a very good solution for the employees that will continue here. It will of course involve larger nedbemanningar, but the way I see it is this one opportunity that we still should be able to build ships here at Kleven, says Gustav Help as working in the yard.

The traditional shipyard is owned by the Hurtigruteselskapet KB Holding. After many decades in which the Kleven family had full control, went between the other Petter Stordalen and the Steamer into the company in 2017. He sold out later.

the Shipyard has been through major changes in recent years, and the lead is also relieved that both the banks and the owners believe that one of the biggest verfta in the county of Møre and Romsdal will survive this crisis also.

Thursday came the message that the operating profit for 2018 for skipsverftskonsernet Vard with headquarters in Ålesund, was minus 1,89 billion. Kleven Verft has chosen to pay liquidated damages in place in order to publish information take account for 2018, but according to Today's Businesses have the shipyard lost over a billion dollars in four years.

When the Ship Fridtjof Nansen is sjøsett from the Kleven Yard around the turn of the year, the future is uncertain. They go through a major transition from building great oljefartøy and ships, to small boats, remodeling and repair work.

Friday was also clear that Kleven has secured a ombyggingskontrakt with the company NordnesGruppen where they will build on an existing boat. In addition, New Kleven and Fosen Yards in joint conversations with the Steamer about ombyggingar and oppgraderingar of a number of the Hurtigruten-ships. But this is not enough to secure current staffing levels.

The downsize is not something we do with a light heart, but it is a quite crucial action for that the yard should be able to have further operation. It is hard work to come, and all must have an extreme focus on costs. We have no guarantee for the future, even if we have good faith in operation after 2020, says Bollestad.
