A legal advisor for the online networking organization, Mark Flanagan, wrote in court papers that a U.S. Equity Department Betlike legal counselor enlightened Twitter regarding the withdrawal of the summons on Friday and that the request no longer has any drive or impact.
It was not promptly clear why the administration had pulled back the summons or whether it had shut an examination it said it was directing. The Justice Department, which guards government organizations in court, declined to remark. The Department of Homeland Security, which issued the summons, had no quick remark.
